The Eastern Natal Green Snake is a long thin green snake, their maximum size is 1.3 m. They occasionally have black speckling along the body and black between the scales and their bellies are green in colour. They have an angled face with yellow eyes.

The Green Mamba is a large bulky bright green snake, they average 1.5 m in length. They are normally thicker than a broomstick and often have the occasional odd yellow scale. Their bellies are green. The head is coffin shaped and their eyes are olive with a black center.

It’s easy to confuse a Eastern Natal Green Snake with a Green Mamba. The graphic below illustrates how to recognize the key differences between the two species.
