Western Tiger Snake

A colourful nocturnal snake that is orange-pink to salmon pink above with 52 – 75 dark blotches on the body and tail. It inhabits rocky areas or hides under the bark of trees.

A colourful nocturnal snake that is orange-pink to salmon pink above with 52 – 75 dark blotches on the body and tail. It inhabits rocky areas or hides under the bark of trees.

It is a slow-moving snake that hunts for lizards, especially geckos at night.

When cornered it puts up quite a show, drawing the head back in a striking position and lunging forward to bite. Its venom is mild and has little effect on humans.
