A rock-living snake that inhabits narrow rock crevices in grasslands and savanna. It averages 60 cm but may exceed 90 cm in length. This is a slender-bodied snake with prominent eyes and is active at night.

The Swazi Rock Snake is endemic to South Africa, and eSwatini occurring from northern KwaZulu-Natal to central Limpopo.

It feeds largely on lizards, especially geckos, and skinks. Females lay up to 7 elongate eggs in summer. This snake is harmless and poses no threat to humans. It may emit a foul-smelling substance when handled.
