Female Boomslang (Dispholidus typus) from the East

Female Boomslang (Dispholidus typus) from the Eastern Cape. Highly venomous.

The Boomslang is largely tree-living but may descend to the ground to bask. In trees it poses no threat to humans as it is extremely reluctant to bite, and bites are rare.

Juveniles are grey with a massive emerald green eye but change to the adult colours around a length of 1 m. Most males are bright green, sometimes with black between the scales but in the Cape provinces they are usually black above with green, yellow or orange sides. Females are usually brown in colour.

Boomslang venom is haemotoxic and compromises the blood clotting mechanism, causing uncontrolled bleeding if not treated. The South African Vaccine Producers manufacture a monovalent antivenom for bites from Boomslang that is very effective.

There's a recent post of a 'massive' snake suppose

There's a recent post of a 'massive' snake supposedly seen on the Orange River in South Africa.

The bottom line is that the image is a fake AI image.
You can see the colour of the water around the snake ,doesn't match the rest of the river and there are no ripples or waves around the snake, which should be present around the body of a floating snake.

There are guesses that it is a mamba - they do not occur along the Orange River and seldom exceed 3 m in length, with maximum lengths of 4.5m.
Other guesses are a Python - again, they don't occur along the Orange River.
The AI generator clearly used a Python/Boa/Anaconda to create this image.
The Southern Africa Python has a max length of 5.5m and in this fake image the snake is over 10m in legnth.

Dwarf Sand Snake (Psammophis angolensis) - Mildly

Dwarf Sand Snake (Psammophis angolensis) - Mildly Venomous.

A beautifully marked little snake with a broad dark brown stripe down the centre of the back. The neck has one or two dark collars with two thin white stripes across the head.

The Dwarf Sand Snake is the smallest in the genus, averaging 25 – 30 cm with a maximum length of 50 cm. It is a quick-moving snake that is active during the day, hunting its prey.

If disturbed it will dart off and freeze in typical sand snake fashion. It is a secretive snake and seldom attempts to bite when handled. It occurs from northern Gauteng northwards into North West, Limpopo, western Mpumalanga and as far as Tanzania and the DRC.
