Intermediate Creeper

A medium sized scorpion of around 9cm with the tail extended. This species is pitch black but may have a brown appearance due to mud or dirt. It is a burrowing species with large pincers and a small tail.

A medium sized scorpion of around 9cm with the tail extended. This species is pitch black but may have a brown appearance due to mud or dirt. It is a burrowing species with large pincers and a small tail.

It can be found under rocks, but also digs burrows in open grasslands. It is known from the eastern side of South Africa in Mpumalanga also entering eSwatini.

It may be confused with some of the other Creeper Scorpions. The sting of this species may cause pain but is not medically important.
